Conservation Connection

Droughts, floods, data centers, transmission lines…the list goes on and on. These are all topics that directly affect our communities and our conservation efforts. But what are the agencies and organizations we depend on doing about them?

Come find out!

Join Hickory UWCD and several other local conservation and community organizations for the first annual (we hope!) Conservation Connection Community Event on August 6 at the San Saba Civic Center Meeting Room, 1190 S Thomas Stewart Drive.

Doors will open at 8 a.m. for organizations to set up informational booths and for the public to come by, visit, and mingle. We’ll have free coffee and donuts available for everyone.

We will also be hosting a drawing for 50-gallon rainwater harvesting barrel!

From 9 to 11 a.m., representatives from participating organizations will share information about the work they’re doing in our community and answer questions from attendees.

Organizations currently participating include:

  • Hickory UWCD (of course!)
  • LCRA
  • NRCS
  • Hill Country Community Action Association
  • San Saba County AgriLife Extension
  • Friends of the San Saba
  • San Saba County Historical Museum
  • San Saba Garden Club
  • Texas Department of Emergency Management (unless he’s deployed)

This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the people and organizations working on issues that affect our communities, learn more about what they do, and ask questions.

If your organization is interested in participating—or if you have questions or comments—please give us a call at 325-597-2785 or email hickoryuwcd@yahoo.com.

We hope you’ll join us!
