Yellow Wood Sorrel

Oxalis stricta

We always called these 'clover' when I was a child. The leaves of this plant contain oxalic acid, giving them a sharp flavor. BUT IT IS NOT ADVISED THAT ONE EAT THESE PLANTS!

Growing readily in dry sandy areas, the flowers are hermaphroditic and are pollinated by insects.

A yellow to orange dye can be obtained by boiling the entire plant.
