Yellow Flax
Linum rigidum
These tiny
flowers (the tallest ones are 8" and that's a rarity) speckle the side of Highway
87 south of Mason. I've been able to obtain very little information on this
species. As a matter of fact, I've noticed there is some disparity on the identification.
Some sources refer to this as Linum rigidum, some Linum puberulum, and some
Linum compactum.Warning
Animals have been poisoned, sometimes fatally, by eating plants in the Linum
genus.
Humans should generally avoid ingesting plants that are toxic
to animals.
