to venture into the danger zone. The Claret Cup are the first cactus to bloom
in the spring, flowering from April to June. The fruit of the Claret Cup
are edible, though the picking might be a bit difficult.
The Latin name for this cactus is Echinocereus triglochidatus. Echinocereus means hedgehog, which is quite fitting as this plant grows in a spiny clumps.
