Foxglove

Digitalis

"In 1629 Digitalis were "cherished in (English) gardens." The name Foxglove came from "finger-flowers, because they are like unto the fingers of a glove, the ends cut off." Others claimed "the word 'fox' is a corruption of 'folk,' meaning the 'little folk' or fairies." Foxgloves reputedly had the power to ward off witches and return children kidnapped by fairies. "

I found these on the side of Highway 71 between Brady and Voca this spring.

These plants are poisonous.
